I teach the research proposal writing class to agronomy and veterinary students at the College, and one of the activities that we do during the semester is an "elevator talk", a 60 second talk to convince someone in an imaginary elevator to finance their research. It is a lot of fun! and helps the students to frame their research in a way this is concise and understandable to every-day people.
